The roads between Cave Pitigliano Sovana and Saturnia Spa

The streets are hollow between Pitigliano and Sorano Sovana, not too far from the Saturnia thermal baths, in the archaeological park of the City of Tufa. Paths were originally excavated in the open air in the hills of tufa. Ad'oggi non'è still very clear what these were. Perhaps sacred paths, perhaps used as a means of communication, or strategic steps to defend dall'attaco enemies. Only in Roman times the Vie Cave became part of a road system that connects to the main trunk of the Via Clodia. Surely the streets remain a unique cave that is unmatched by other ancient civilizations of the world. The vie cave or cavoni, are also known as the "cut", are high for more than twenty meters long, about a mile wide three-meter lead on the path that leads to the various sites of the Etruscan necropolis, located between Pitigliano Sorano and Sovana.
